WHY I BLOG? WHY I WRITE? WHY I BREATHE.

Blog’s have become a huge opportunity for writers globally, to communicate within one post. A tool, that can give you freedom to express, describe or translate. The ability to be your own creator. In other words, your own boss. Some writers do it for money, or studies, or for even their work. For me? I do it for passion. Something I’ve never been able to not do. Even if it is writing just a quote a day, or a bunch of lyrics, or a heartfelt essay of collection of thoughts and feelings. It’s almost like breathing to me. IT BECOMES NATURAL. Obviously you need some sort of ability to write a blog, however you do not need to be the best. Just write what you feel, what I usually say. You can always read examples for help, you can find four common styles of writing. Expository, Descriptive, Persuasive, and…

LIVING THE DAIRY FREE LIFE

Simple, food makes you feel good, especially dairy products. In this trend setting world we live in now. Everyone is after finding that health-craze substitute, lucky enough gives people like me ‘lactose intolerant’ a vast array of options to pick from! The rise of lactose intolerant people in countries has increased rapidly. According to the latest research study released by Technavio, the global lactose-free food market is expected to reach over USD 10 billion in revenue by 2020. Just to put it into scale! Three types of milk use to be the common selection of choice (semi-skimmed, skimmed and full fat dairy). Now people pick from over five alternative sources to get the substitute. Explaining The Intolerance? “Lactose intolerance is a difficult one as even people who are intolerant can actually tolerate some lactose in their diet,” says Dr Miranda Lomer, senior consultant dietitian in gastroenterology at Guy’s and St…

THE LIFE OF A QUEER, BLACK, FEMALE ARTIST

AN ARTIST BORN & RAISED IN LONDON This is Naya Aka-Kwarm, 20 year old artist, born and raised in North London. She is currently working as a bartender part-time,  also a poet and a film maker with her brother. Where are you based in London, describe your environment?  Well where I grew up was pretty rough. It didn’t feel rough but reminiscing on it, and seeing it as it is now, it was, still kind of definitely rough. Although I still reside in North London, I spend most of my time East where things feel a lot different. Definitely a lot more diverse that is for sure. Explain the life of a young adult in London, how do you feel life is for you?  I mean as expensive as London is, it is never going to be that easy for someone that is young and working class. In this moment,…

ANOTHER KIND OF LIFE – EXHIBITION REVIEW

Photography on the Margins. . . THE BARBICAN CENTRE PRESENTS AN OUT OF THIS WORLD EXHIBITION A translucent thought into what the world could be and what could seem to be, forms from  this mind-blowing exhibition of photography. Experiences like this barely exist, depending on what type of person you are and how you perceive your life. Being the thoughtful thinker that I myself am, and exposing myself to this exhibition brought harmony to my soul. As an artist, creator and a writer, to know that there were these photographers that were alive and some still are. You witness this overwhelming feeling of emotion when you walk around the gallery, it is incredibly heart-warming. Gazing upon the 20 photographers with such diversities, the exhibit opens your mind focusing it to witness and read. I am refusing to speak details of the work, names of pieces, from this exhibition. As for…

DJ INKO

INTRODUCE YOURSELF I’ve first met DJ Inko 6 years ago in Thessaloniki, Greece, in one of my favourite bars where he was resident at the time. I was immediately taken by his melodies, I just surrendered myself to the upbeat rhythms of his music and had the urge to hit the dancefloor and keep going until my legs could go no more. Inko’s musical journey started when he was young studying violin, piano and composition which awoke his passion. As a teenager, he started his vinyl collection with funk, disco and house sounds which later defined his style. But what really stands out is the educational journey he took to pursue his passion and master his craft. From a studying sound engineering and music production at the University of Wales to being a graduate of the department of audio engineering at I.I.E.K AKMI as well as completing ”Electronic Music & Technology” course at…

DO MANNERS MATTER? LIVING IN THE UK

In this post, we are going to talk about English manners and what kind of behaviour is considered to be polite and what impolite. In England, people place a great deal of importance in good manners. It is well known that this is a multicultural place and you can find people here from all around the world, especially in London. As a result, you will often come across different accents and cultures in your every day life. Having a broken English accent isn’t a problem really, but not being aware of the basic British etiquette rules can be. You may sometimes upset people by things that you say or do, even if these things seem perfectly normal in your own culture. Despite who you are or where you came from, your manners have a direct impact on your social and professional success. Follow this list of important social etiquettes and Londoners…

WEAKNESS YOU LEARN FROM

Make no apologies for the weakness you may have, apologise for the force of strength you will give. “Comfort is the enemy of progress” – P.T. Barnum. Words to live by! A moment of weakness is all it takes to fall into a negative cycle. Your growth will oppose your weakness. . . Balance your ideas and plans, learn from them, whether it be your life in London (including other urban cities and secluded countrysides), or financial crisis’s, searching for that new job, with the perfect social life. Pick your battles and signify what means the most to you. HOWEVER, by all means necessary make sure YOU are in every plan and idea. You as a person need to create that healthy mind and body, everyone suffers from that same place, by not being able to picture how on earth they will achieve this? You can! Just pick apart your…

WHEN THE SUN IS OUT IN LONDON

I know that we don’t get to see a lot of sun here in London, but nothing can break out spirit! Our hope that one day summer will actually come never fades. One way or another, this article is going to give you a few ideas on things to do and places to see when the sun is out. London, as every other place on earth, becomes so beautiful under the light of the sun. It doesn’t stop to amaze me how everything changes when the clouds disappear and that yellow source of warmth takes their place. Everything looks different, like buildings and streets. If you are lucky, you will discover new small details (that you may never have noticed before) about the City that will make you love London even more. As the nice weather in London should not be taken for granted, the list below will give you some…

EAST, WEST, NORTH OR SOUTH LONDON?

If you live in London you already know that you might have to move a few times in order to find the perfect flat and the best area that compliments your lifestyle. London is a large beautiful city considered to be the “heart” of Europe. There are many opportunities here for people who are trying to build their career or grow within their profession. This city also gathers a great number of students from all around the world- London has some of the finest Universities in Europe. Regardless the reason you’ve decided to move to the “Big Smoke” one thing is for sure, you’ll need to think carefully about the area you choose to live in. BEING AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IN LONDON

Live each day with the breeze of the moment. INTERVIEW Tell Me About Who You Are And Where Your From? Hey! My name is Ilaria Iannarilli, 21 years old. Photography Student at London Metropolitan University. I was born and raised in Rome, Italy but now I live in London. Why Did You Apply To Study In London? The reason why I have applied to study in London, is because there are no opportunities to study anything like photography in my home city. I always felt they do not take it very seriously. For example, here universities give space to pave a way for creative people, while in Italy, they do not get a degree but something more similar to a certificate.  Why Did You Consider This As A Great Opportunity? Living and studying in another country at my age is always a great opportunity, I guess. It’s that time of your…

PASSION YOU LEARN FROM

For one’s desire to strive, is to water it and let it grow. Image Credit:  @aliachasingthemoon Sometimes life can be cluttered, disorganised, hectic and just straight up difficult. That can come from living in the city of London. People moving faster than you, progressing more than you, doing everything better than you. With that, you sit alone and ponder as to why you are not them? The need for drive in this never-ending city Your darkest thoughts can lead you anywhere but your mind chooses the darkness, picks apart the lowest of the low. Settling you into this lifestyle of what you think was not your decision, however it was, more so than you think. You need to pick apart what you want from life, if you want to ‘sell your soul’ for the devil so to speak or live out your dream and fight for the life you are…

THE FESTIVAL SERIES: LUMIERE FESTIVAL

This is my first article of a series, which have as the main purpose to introduce (or give you even more info) about any kind of festival, mainly in the UK but not exclusively. My goal is to host as many festivals as possible and also ensure that people with different taste and back-rounds, can find something interesting here. And first on our list would be the LUMIERE FESTIVAL. Lumiere or differently London’s festival of light is a free festival that takes place for four days in our city. With more than 50 installations of projections, neons, interactive pieces and illuminated sculptures, Lumiere will make you see many buildings around London with a different perspective. It was established in 2016. Following its great success and the millions of people who visited the festival, it’s time for the sequel. So as a result you packed your bags, booked a flight, said goodbye to friends and family to start a new adventure in…LONDON. In this post I’d like to emphasis on the constant love-hate feeling which you most likely will experience between you and the city. As you possibly already know you will be living in the city of opportunity; the city that offers unlimited options and gives you the chance to fill your days with new experiences and activities. That… long story short, is the place to be! However, having mentioned all the above, something you probably are not aware of is that there’s  another side to this city. A side that makes you feel similar to how your best friend’s bad habits make…

MATILDE CORNO PHOTOGRAPHY

INTRODUCE YOURSELF   Matilde Corno was one of the first people I met when came to London. Her ethos and her weird artistic point of view in life generally was one of the things that inspired me about her. GIVE A BIT OF “ART” TO ME…

One of the things that came alongside the new year, is my urge find new things to entertain myself in my spare time other than “socialising” with friends in bars and restaurants. Please don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, I love “socialising” and of course I love bars but sometimes we just need a break. It’s probably the whole festive season after effect that creates this drive, as I have spent all of December out “cheering” for the new year’s arrival. Pretty exhausting! So following this productivity crisis of mine, I am here to give you some ideas on some of the best art exhibitions that will be taking place in London in 2018. If you see something you like, I’d suggest you plan in advance (put it in your diary and create alerts on your phone) as for some of the exhibitions the tickets will disappear in…
